About a dress

I bought a dress. I bought a dress from American Apparel, makers of gold spandex leggings and raunchy billboard ads. I went in to this dubious store looking for a jersey wrap dress - something simple. I read somewhere that American Apparel had a nice one, a nice one in eggplant, which is my new favourite colour. So, I went into the store, even though I seriously doubt its intentions.

I did not find my wrap dress. Instead, I found an aqua "Bandeau dress". It's made of jersey alright, but its whole different animal. It's basically a halter, but made in a way that it can be rearranged for different looks - halter, strapless, one shoulder, skirt, shirt... in the store they give you a "roadmap" with 17 different options. Really, the possibilities are endless.

I got sucked in. I got sucked in by the 17 possibilities and the beautiful blue colour and the vision of me, in my beautiful blue dress, frolicking down on the beach. And the $45 price tag. And the frolicking.

The problem is that once I got the dress home, I couldn't decide if I loved it or hated it. So, I did what any fashion conscious, self-aware, woman who lives by herself would do. I set up my camera on my ironing board, set it to intervals and took pictures of myself. Then, I spent some time looking at the pictures of my own bum, trying to decide if I LOVE the dress, or if its an unfortunate mistake that needs to be returned immediately. I really can't decide. At some angles I love it, and at some angles, well... not so much. I do love that it's a dress of many, many possibilities, and if one way looks worse than the others, I can just not wear it that way!

The bottom line is that I can't decide. I can't decide if I should keep the dress and frolick in it all summer, or if I should take it back and forget about the whole unfortunate incident. So, I'm posting a million bad pictures of me, and if you read this, please, please help. Please. Please?

Yes? or No?

Notice the final fashion pose? I think I have a future on Canada's Next Top Model...

Mode of Transport

Within the last six months, both of my siblings have bought new cars. Meg bought a shiny new Toyota Yaris before Christmas and Mac just got a 2007 Fusion. They're both thoroughly enjoying their new wheels, and I'm a little jealous. Well - not THAT jealous. I do love the whole no payments, no gas, no breakdown part of being carless, but I did think that my own mode of transportation needed a little pick-me-up. So, I'd just like to announce, my new "car"...

They're "Malibran Operettas" by Fluevog, a Vancouver designer best known for his 80's punk boots. There's a little Fluevog shop on my way home from work, and these babies have been catching my eye for awhile. Granted, they're a little funkier than what I usually wear, but the thick heel and round toe mean I can walk ANYWHERE in them, a necessity for a life where your feet are your transportation. Plus, I'm supposed to be a business trip Queen this summer and I needed a go-anywhere-with-anything shoe to come with me on these trips. There's nothing worse than teetering while giving a presentation, or sore feet at the end of the day.

Half the fun of new shoes is figuring out what to wear with them. I had some fun yesterday morning and modelled it up in my house before work...

Totally fun... now what should I wear today????
